Linux Foundation FAQ

Can I participate in a Linux Foundation web delivered exam from any location?
Yes, you may participate in a live, web delivered exam from anywhere that is convenient, as long as your computer and Internet connection meet minimum requirements.

How do I know my computer will meet the minimum requirements?
You can visit the PSI compatibility check tool at the following URL:
https://www.examslocal.com/ScheduleExam/Home/CompatibilityCheck

Do I need to install any specific software to participate in the exam?
No software installations will be required. As mentioned above, all you will need is a stable broadband internet connection, a chrome or chromium web browser, webcam and microphone.

How do I schedule an exam?
Before you can schedule an exam, you will first need to register. Use the appropriate link below to register for the Exam you wish you schedule and take.

For the Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator please visit:
LFCS

For the Linux Foundation Certified Engineer please visit:
LFCE

Once you have completed registration, you will be redirected to your account on My Portal. Please use the Schedule Link in My Portal to be directed to the PSI scheduling site.

Search for your Exam by title, code (LFCS or LFCE), or sponsor name (The Linux Foundation). You will be prompted to select a preferred date and time, to complete a compatibility check, and to agree to terms and conditions in order to schedule your Exam. Please note that exams require a 24-hour lead time to allow for preparation of the virtual machine for your selected Exam and distribution; the earliest date you will be able to select for your Exam reservation will be the next business day. The scheduling site uses the timezone that is set in your web browser.

How can I retrieve a forgotten password?
To retrieve a forgotten password please visit: https://identity.linuxfoundation.org/
Once you’ve reset your password you can sign in via: www.examslocal.com/linuxfoundation

What can I do if www.examslocal.com is saying I am not eligible for the exam?
Please verify that you have registered for the Exam. You should have received an Order Confirmation and a Scheduling Instructions email from The Linux Foundation for completed registrations. If so, then please check My Account > View Credits and Eligibilities on www.examslocal.com/linuxfoundation

If you still are not eligible for the exam and you have received your e-mails from the Linux Foundation please email us at examsupport@examslocal.com, or call +1-888-504-9178, +1-312-612-1049 for additional support.

How do I reschedule or cancel an Exam Reservation?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your exam, please sign in at https://www.examslocal.com/linuxfoundation, click on “My Exams”, click on your scheduled exam and use the cancellation or reschedule option or email us at examsupport@examslocal.com, or call +1-888-504-9178, +1-312-612-1049 for additional support.

What is the cancellation policy for my scheduled exam?
Exams must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled exam time. Failing to cancel or reschedule within this time period will result in forfeiture of exam fees, and your exam credit/eligibility will be considered used.

Can I request a refund from the Linux Foundation for an exam registration?
You have up to three (3) business days following payment of exam registration fees or up to 24 hours prior to a scheduled exam reservation, whichever comes first, to request a full refund on your exam registration fees.

Please Note: If you have an exam reservation scheduled, you must first cancel the reservation at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the reservation. Refund requests cannot be processed if there is a scheduled exam reservation in the system.

What will happen if I do not show up for my exam?
By not showing up to your exam reservation on time, you will be marked as a no-show for the exam. No-shows forfeit the money paid for an exam, and no rescheduling is allowed for the exam.

What do I need on the day of my exam?
One form of government issued photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, passport)
You will be required to provide a means of photo identification before the exam can be launched. If acceptable proof of identification is not provided to the proctor prior to the exam, entry to the exam will be refused. You must also consent to having your photo taken. The ID will be used for identity verification only and will not be stored.

The proctor cannot release the exam to you until identification has been successfully verified and you have agreed to the terms and conditions of the exam. No refund or rescheduling is provided when an exam cannot be started due to failure to provide proper identification.

Please note that the presented international Passport or government issued form of identification must contain Western (English) characters.

How do I launch my exam? At what time should I arrive for my exam?
To start your exam, login at https://www.examslocal.com/linuxfoundation, click “My Exams”, and follow the instructions after selecting the exam that you want to start. You may start your exam up to 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. You MUST start your exam no later than 15 minutes after your scheduled start time. If you do not start your exam within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time, the system will automatically mark you as a No-Show and you will not be able to take your exam.

Will the proctor be able to access my computer or its contents?
PSI does not install any software on your computer for this exam and, therefore, does not have any access to your computer or its contents.

The only access PSI has to your computer is the webcam and desktop sharing facilitated by your web browser. However, please note that PSI does provide a virtual lockdown browser system that utilizes secure communications and encryption. Upon the completion of the exam all proctor “view-only access” is automatically removed.

Are there a set of exam policies and rules of which I should be aware of?

Certification Information

How long do I have to complete the exam? When does the timer begin?
